In the back of my mind all week has been this weeks challenge, but I didn't expect it to be just that - a challenge! Many of my photos were taken from the car as some of the interesting objects in people's yards are along the highway. I put safety first and the photos second so they didn't all turn out as I had envisioned!
Lighthouses are a big theme in this beachy town. Our city hall sign bears one and there are many of these handcrafted stone ones around town as well.
Flotsam and jetsam also end up as yard objects, as in the anchor and the driftwood that my mom has placed in her yard:
or the glass ball in my neighbor's:
During the summer, crab pots are stored in stacks near the shipyard:
and signs for fresh tuna are placed in front yards:
Wood carvings reflect the beach as well....razor clams are BIG here:
This wooden fisherman is missing his lantern - it looks like he's a schoolboy raising his hand to use the restroom!
Not all yard objects that I captured are nautical....I love this old car planter:
and the old fashioned water pump shown here:
I hope you've enjoyed viewing some of the typical yard objects you might see in coastal Washington!

Ohhh I love that wooden fisherman, even without his lantern.
And I've never seen crabpots!
Hey, good shots: I think you captured your community really well! I like the useless boats decorating spaces. And I love to see crab pots; we have them here, too, in smaller quantities.
Very, very nice! I think the old guy by the wall is my uncle!
isn't it great - the idea of recycling by using old boats and other 'Flotsam and jetsam' to decorate our towns. I loved your photos.
Awesoome! I LOVE the fisherman/school boy. I laughed out loud. Very funny!
Ummm..is this the guy Gordon is talking about? Ha ha!
Welcome to the shoot out. It is a lot of fun - you will enjoy it - very supportive community.

Really great sampling... I enjoyed!
I'm not sure if the last message took or not?? But oh how I love all of these!
