Friday "My Town" Shoot Out

Thanks to Audrey for this week's theme: Reflections. I had several ideas that never came to fruition because my baby turned 11 today and my we had a busy week! Somehow she got 2 parties, 2 cakes, and 2 special dinners out of me.
I love the way the candlelight is reflected on her face as she prepares to blow out candles for a second time on a second cake:

A shot at Bottle Beach....I think reflection is better suited to black & white sometimes.

Bottle Beach again at low tide.

And finally a goofy shot of my sunscreened leg and painted toes reflecting the sun which really does appear in the Northwest occasionally!

your baby is beautiful and she deserves two parties, two cakes and MORE -
I like your shot is b&w which is about shadow and light - mine never please me I have to have color to be really happy with a photo - sorry back to yours - I like the leg shot very much.

I like the leg shot too. All the photos are great. I never thought about the theme in terms of light reflections. You just expanded my thought process. Thank you.

Thanks for the comments!

Denise, Bottle Beach has a lot of glass (thus the name) but it isn't the smooth sea glass most people look for. We were wearing flip flops and had to be careful because there are pieces of sharp glass from bottles that wash up there. For sea glass we go to the ocean (I live on a peninsula where I can see the bay and hear the ocean at the same time :)

B&W was a good idea for this. Shhh...don't tell anybody about the sun! Tell them it rains allll the time. That's what we do in Oregon.

I hear ya Kerry...notice I said "occasionally" we get sun. Don't worry, though, Al Roker has a permanent rain cloud over the PNW on his weather map so our secret is safe!

I really like the leg shot - and I agree, sometimes things are better in black and white!

Aw, shoot. Gordon had a nice comment and I accidentally hit "reject"...can't get it back. Sorry, Gordon.

Thanks for sharing your reflection photos. Why is it called bottle beach?

Can I grab this photo. I planned to post a collection of this week's photo shoot out them. I will credit your site of course. If it's okay with you.

I wouldn't have thought of that last one. Neat!

Redlan - Bottle Beach has broken bottle pieces all over...they haven't been washed smooth, though. It is a birdwatcher's paradise and the site of a city that existed in the 1880s but is no longer there.

Yes, you may grab the photo - thanks for asking!

I love the idea of the light reflecting. Great shot - and Happy Birthday to that sweetie pie!

Great shots! I love that the sun reflects not only off of the water on that beach shot, but on the spots where the water used to be...in ditches in the sand and old tidepools. I, too, am an avid beach glass hunter, so I love the name of the beach!

Keep on shooting! Thanks for posting :)

Nice orange glow on the birthday girl's face. My baby is having his birthday too. It fell on the day we traveled back, and now he wants a party just for his boy friends.

Welcome to Friday shoot out.
