Friday My Town Shoot-Out: Classics of Childhood

Thank you, Ellisa, for this week's theme: Classics of Childhood. To see what our hostess is posting, go to http://ellisaathousandwords.blogspot.com/.

In my house, football reigns supreme. My son is making some great memories as the ball boy of the high school football team:

And he'll never forget catching for the Little League All Stars team, which came in 2nd in their tournament:
Living on the coast, fishing and playing on the beach are childhood musts!
And finally, here is my nephew with one of the great childhood classics of all time: getting to lick the beater!
This was a fun subject in my mind because my head has been full of pictures of childhood memories that I wish I had actual photos of which to show. Thanks, Ellisa, for the journey down memory lane!

To me , the last one is really classic! no kid could ever resist licking the whisk like that, no matter which era they were born in! Thank God, no kids of mine were present when I bake a batch of chocolate muffins today, otherwise it will be licked clean!!! lol

Sports saved my life as a child. Thanks for reminding me of how important they are.

Little League and beater licking are for sure, the all time greats of childhood. Your images have captured the faces of some happy boys clearly and joyfully. I loved your post Carrie. Thanks.

I love the photo of licking the beaters. That is definitely classic childhood that continues into adulthood. Just ask my husband. Haha. I love licking the beaters, the bowl, the spatula too. Your nephew is a cutie.

Your son will love the pictures you have taken of him...these are the things he will love to show his own children. Beautiful work too.

There is nothing cuter than teeny, tiny Little League players - and I'm still fan of licking the beaters :) Great shots this week!

I love the air of wistfulness to the little ballboy, can almost picture his dreams of being out there himself one day instead of standing here holding the ball. Wonderful!

Your nephew is doing a fantastic job with that beater; he hasn't gotten a smudge on his cheeks, nose, or chin...yet. Great pictures all.

that last photo is my very favorite, if Jen doesn't pick it as one of the spotlighted photos, I'll eat my hat!
not the straw one with the wide brim but the one that is to small for me to wear.
very good shoot out.

Love the photo of your son in the mud! My kids would LOVE to play there!!

I loved all these...my sister and I used to fight bitterly over who got to lick the beater! Whoever lost got the bowl, but that wasn't as much fun. LOL!

Fabulous post!

I still lick the beater, I hope no body took my photo.

I agree that there are many more photos in my head than survived my childhood. These are great!

What handsome boys and noble pursuits! Yes, licking the beaters is also a noble pursuit.

Sorry if it's too late for me to post a comment here. My internet connection was so slow and from to time the connection cut off.

How wish too to share my childhood memories but no photos. You are a great mom for your son. Keep it up.

I love both last weeks post and this weeks! My son did not play baseball, but did do soccer, and that was fun cheering him on!
