Sorry this is late. I am tired, have had a stormy week with gusts up to 80 mph and power outages, have a sick kid....Ok, I'll quit whining and get to my town's number one draw! Of course, it is the beach. Sadly, when you live at the beach you don't go as often as one would think!
what is that THING? yes living close to the beach takes away from it draw. The apartment in Rio is 160 steps to the beach and I walk on the beach MAYBE two times a YEAR!
Ginger - it is a starfish! It was the lowest tide of the year so we went to check out the tide pools and saw hundreds of purple & orange starfish, among other things.
The purple seastar is a show-stopper, and what a gorgeous sky, too. The wind has been blowing like crazy here in Oregon, too, one of the few times I'm glad not to be any closer to the coast than we already are!
The starfish is awesome! And I never get tired of the beach. Maybe I would if I lived there, but I don't think so! Glad you made the extra effort to join the shootout.
Photos have always been part of my most prized possessions. About a year ago I bought a digital SLR and am just now venturing out of automatic and into the manual world of photography. I hope this blog and the challenges from sites such as Friday My Town Shoot Out and Sunday Stills will help me learn and grow as an amateur photographer. I hope you enjoy my take on the world!
“To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” Elliott Erwitt
“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.” Dorothea Lange
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” Aaron Siskind
If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine

Glad you found the time to post. That starfish has brightened my day! Thank you.
You may not go as often as you would like, but you can get there pretty fast when you decide to go! Very nice shots.

My God! That purple startfish thingy. Are you sure it didn't come from another planet?
